When it comes to fringes there's almost always a fringe to suit every face shape. Be it heart, square or even the dreaded round face-fringe-combo, with our edit of the best celeb bangs, you'll find your perfect fringe style in no time. Trust.

'Pretty much everyone suits a fringe, it’s all about where the fringe ends,' says pro hairstylist Zoe Irwin. 'Whether it’s a long fringe that accentuates the cheek bones or brow skimming, the most important thing is working it to fit the face shape and the jaw line.'

So how can you update the classic fringe for 2023? 'Super cropped, chopped fringes are a big thing for 2023,' says Irwin. 'Fringes work really well with super long hair and also French girl bobs. Fringes should be worn either half way through the forehead, resting on the brow, or with a 1960s vibe where the centre is shorter and the sides are two or three centimetres longer.'

Read on for the all the fringe hair inspiration you need before you opt for the chop...

As big fans of Lily James' switch back to brunette, we're absolutely fawning over this dark and stylish trim. While the Pam & Tommy star can usually be found sporting a sophisticated classic up-do for red carpets, last night's Met Gala saw her take a walk on the spikier, edgier side of hairstyling. A micro fringe and unkept ends? No complaints here.

Em Rata has switched out her signature effortless lengths for an edgy brunette micro fringe, and we're not mad about it. Not too far from her ultimately cooler take on the 1920s flapper bob, this playful face-framing trim, which may or may not be a hair piece, soars way above the model's brows letting her face and make-up do all the talking.

Anok Yai's choppy free-flowing cut is throwing everything we know about red carpet hairstyling out of the window. We're talking snippy layers, tousled waves and, of course, a statement micro fringe. While her high fashion vizor is somewhat blocking the exact length of her chic, blunt baby bangs, there's no denying this effortless trim was made for the Met.

Christina Ricci

This full fringe isn't quite short enough to earn the micro bangs label, but there's no denying these curvy curtains can still give your brows the framing straighter cuts won't. Arching from temple to temple, this classic statement trim is definitely a commitment but paired with Christina Ricci's glossy brunette tone and playful ponytail, we think she pulls it off.

Her most recent outing to the Tiffany & Co. flagship store opening in New York is proof of that. Armed with a blunt full fringe and flipped ends lob, this ultimate cool girl haircut was stolen direct from Scarface, another statement look from Pugh's tried and true stylist Peter Lux. That's right, when it comes to fringes, the eighties just might be the new nineties.
