<p>Italian fashion designer Alberta Ferretti is known for her pretty, romantic, and feminine designs. The daughter of a dressmaker, Ferretti is acclaimed for her masterful fabric skills&#151;particularly draping, twisting, and tucking. Ferretti debuted her namesake collection in 1981 at the Milan ready-to-wear shows, and she was among a select group of Italian designers invited to a reception of designers and retailers held by U.K. Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in 1988. Today she also designs the younger, more casual Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti line. One can always find fabulous cocktail frocks, glamorous gowns, and adorable jackets within her line. With her dreamy, red-carpet-worthy gowns, it's no wonder Alberta Ferretti designs are a favorite among Uma Thurman, Sarah Jessica Parker, Angelina Jolie, and Cate Blanchett. Ferretti also designs handbags, shoes, and eyewear. </p>
