<p>Soon after British designer Alexander McQueen burst onto the scene in 1992, he became known as an enfant terrible who courted controversy (Legend has it he scrawled obscenities inside a suit destined for Prince Charles while working on London&#146;s famous Savile Row.). His couture-level designs were as theatrical as the spectacles that showcased them, whether it was a life-size chess game or re-enactment of an insane asylum. After the designer&#146;s tragic death in 2010, his right-hand woman, Sarah Burton, who had been with the company since 1996, took over as creative director. She continues McQueen&#146;s legacy, producing gorgeously constructed pieces that combine elements of British tailoring with French couture, and is known for her frequent collaborations with Prince Charles&#146;s daughter-in-law, Kate Middleton&#151;most famously, on Middleton&#146;s wedding dress.</p>
